Apologies for missing my customary deadline for the June 1 edition of Granola! Some urgent needs, dilemmas, and deadlines all converged, and we had our hands full for a while there. I am looking forward to resuming my normal schedule in the coming days.
For those of you who are new to Granola: welcome! This is my space for posting about place, books, and community. You’ll likely find some thoughts here on sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship, neighborliness, caregiving and maintenance, fun recipes, and more.
I’m still severely sleep deprived, and so I will wait to post something more substantive. But here are some things my family and I have been grateful for lately:
Seven Wonders Duel. A great two-person board game my husband and I have been enjoying after the kids are in bed.
Leslie Marmon Silko’s memoir The Turquoise Ledge.
Henri Nouwen’s The Wounded Healer (currently re-reading this one).
These cardamom doughnut muffins. 10/10.
Homemade blueberry and asiago everything bagels!
More soon,
Gracy
Thanks for the link to the bagel recipe, Gracie! I enjoy baking but have never attempted bagels - now will try those in the next week. I am glad life is back more to "normal" for you and your family -
