Wow. I love the idea of autumn calling us to remain instead of wander. I'm heading up to Massachusetts for the weekend, but after that, I will be spending months in the same space doing the same things. I think staying still allows the things underneath the surface--fear, joy, hopes--to rise up more clearly and we can engage with them once we recognize them.

Hi Gracy, your writing for this entry underscores the value of Granola - as well as how helpful it is to have a guide as we read through "Pilgrim at Tinker Creek". I thought I had done a good job of reading through this chapter, but I missed much of what you highlighted here. I appreciate being able to think again about autumn with your thoughts added to Dillard's.

You mentioned in this post that you and your kids will be going out to collect leaves for entry into their nature sketchbooks. I wonder if that activity may be more important than a getting a blog post done by a specific deadline? :)

Thank you for the effort and skill you put into Granola - it is consistently excellent!
